WELCOME TO KEVINMc SPORTS
Boy, it’s good to be back.
After all, how much golf can you really play?
The answer, easily, is a lot.
Cypress Point.
Pinehurst No. 2.
The great Irish courses. Royal Portrush? Amazing. Royal County Down – Perfection!
Wannamoisett.
Point Judith.
Newport.
You get the idea.
We’ve touched a lot of first tees in the last six months but now it’s college basketball time in Rhode Island once again. It’s time to return to the enjoyable grind of telling the stories that sports fans in Rhode Island, fans around college basketball, and friends from all corners love to read, watch and enjoy.
Loyal readers of KevinMcSports know this is the place for college basketball. Yes, we will write about the Celtics, Patriots and the Red Sox from time to time but we know what works in Little Rhody and that’s college hoops more than anything else.
For those who know my work, thank you. It’s a pleasure to inform, entertain and, hopefully, become a part of your sports browsing options.
I was fortunate to cover college basketball, the Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox and even some Bruins for over 30 years at the Providence Journal. I’m happy to keep writing and also have branched into all sorts of other venues, including hosting the KevinMcSports Hour on WPRO and 790TheScore. Please give a listen, 5-7 p.m. Monday-Friday!
We’ve also enjoyed creating the 401 Podcast where we’ve welcomed some of the biggest names in Sports to the podcast.
Thanks again to all of our loyal subscribers. And welcome to the newcomers. We really appreciate it!
I’ve really appreciated the emails and phone calls from long-time readers and supporters who’ve urged me to stay in the sports news game. I’m happy to still be swinging and enjoying my new role on the radio, podcasts and national platforms like Westwood One’s This Week in the Big East which I co-host with John Rooke.
We are your home for the most insightful look into the Providence Friars and the Big East. We’ll provide those stories and interviews with the biggest names in college basketball. We will also see some of the top prep players in New England and tell their stories and follow where they’re headed for college.
The sports journalism world continue to change to a break-neck pace. This site was launched in the fall of 2020 and since then a slew of excellent, ‘micro-sites’ and Substacks have followed. Like all of those sites, in order to access the bulk of the content on KevinMcSports you will need to subscribe. You’ve paid for my work for years in some shape or form and all I can promise is much, much more of the same and at a much, much cheaper price.
Please tell your friends and fellow fans and get used to coming here on a regular basis.
