No, the Providence College basketball season did not end last week in Storrs, Conn.

It may have seemed that way when UConn overwhelmed the Friars, 73-61, but after a week on the sidelines the Friars are ready to get going once again. Providence (11-11, 7-9) will host Xavier (12-4, 5-4) Wednesday night at Alumni Hall. Game time is 9 p.m.

The Friars have three regular season games remaining: vs. Xavier, at St. John’s and home against Villanova. The team will have this weekend off so getting a win over the Musketeers ahead of a March 3 date in Queens would serve Ed Cooley’s team well.
