Updated bunkering is one of the major upgrades at Wannamoisett – like here at the treacherous 12th green

In this week’s 401 Podcast, Kevin is joined by Andrew Green of A.H. Green Design to discuss his undertaking at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, Rhode Island.

Andrew and his team, as well as club superintendent Mark Daniels and his crew, are currently updating the famed Donald Ross course. Green discusses why Wannamoisett – and many of the country’s great classic courses – needed a restoration, how he’s found extra putting areas on some already treacherous greens, and where to move fairway bunkers to test the great players who visit Rumford every June for the Northeast Amateur.

Andrew Green is restoring many of the trademarks of Donald Ross design features that have been lost, or have faded, over time. He worked with the Club and studied Ross’ original designs, including at the par-5 17th hole.
